You couldn’t look forward to your vacation any more – if only it weren’t for the annoying journey! Traffic jams on the motorway, waiting for the connecting train or racing to the gate: a relaxed journey is not that easy.

The right travel outfit

It has to be comfortable

The most important thing on the outward journey is to wear the right clothes. Regardless of whether you travel by train, plane or car, you will have to sit a lot. So choose comfortable clothes made of natural fibers – if you start to sweat, you don’t want to smell unpleasant.

Made of linen or lyocell

Men’s and women’s linen clothing has a cooling effect on the skin and is very comfortable to wear, but it wrinkles easily. Lyocell clothing, on the other hand, is less prone to wrinkles. The cellulose fibers absorb moisture very well, stay cool and are therefore ideal for a stress-free journey.

Covered thighs

Make sure your inner thighs are covered so they don’t stick together and become sore when sitting for long periods of time . Wear leggings or tights under a dress or skirt to avoid friction.

Stretch waistband is trump

For example, combine women’s trousers with a stretchy waistband – without buttons or zippers , but with lyocell content – with an oversized shirt made of pure cotton. As a man, you can wear comfortable men’s jeans without a belt with a cotton or linen shirt. Everyone should have enough masks to change into!

Arrival by car

Little legroom

Your own vehicle is the most flexible way to travel, but it also offers the least freedom of movement. You have to choose your men’s or women’s jeans carefully so that you don’t get any unpleasant marks. A little tip: if the trousers are too tight, contrary to expectations, you can tie a hair tie with a loop into the buttonhole and attach the button to it. This will discreetly lengthen the waistband by a few centimeters.

Relaxed arrival by car

Everything within reach

If you want to travel stress-free, you need to have everything within reach in the car, as the seatbelt is a limitation. Store things like a garbage bag , a charger cable for your cell phone or a road map in the glove compartment – in case GPS and the internet fail. Of course, you should leave any activity that distracts you from the traffic to a fellow passenger.

Arrival by train

Prefer to wear jeans

Taking the train in a light summer dress and sandals could ruin the stress-free journey to your  summer vacation. When choosing your clothes, remember that you will be carrying luggage with you – a skirt or dress could restrict you when lifting and bending, and a hastily put-on backpack could pull up the hem of the skirt and cause an involuntary butt flash .

No sandals

You can easily stumble in strappy sandals and the like , especially if you have to move quickly because of a platform change or a train delay. Sturdy shoes, such as sneakers, are better.

Arrival by plane

use the shuttle

Arrive without stress – the shuttle service to the airport makes it possible, and can usually be booked inexpensively. Not only do you save yourself the hassle of driving, but you also save yourself the parking fee and the worry of your own vehicle in the large car park.

Well-organized hand luggage

Have everything you need in your hand luggage in case of a delay: from a toothbrush to a spare shirt to fresh underwear. You should have all information about your flight, including tickets and passports, in a plastic bag or small extra bag in your hand luggage . If you are flying abroad, be careful about your choice of snacks! Fruit or meat-containing foods are often prohibited upon entry.

No makeup

Even if it sounds uncool: compression stockings prevent swollen feet, legs and thrombosis. If you want to travel relaxed, you should wear them on the plane. It is also better to fly without make-up, especially on long-haul flights – you don’t need sticky eyelashes and a stain-staining foundation on a twenty-hour journey.
