The Christmas cake is a traditional delicacy that takes on a new, more special shape every Christmas. A few years ago, snowflake cakes became a hit , while this year, cakes that look like a Christmas tree are baked! These different Christmas cakes require a little dexterity, but not its more bizarre baking skills than their ordinary four-pointed relatives.
The tightly folded butter dough square is succulent and pleasantly soft when fried. You can vary the cakes to your liking – try different baking-resistant jams and fillings or try chocolate candies, for example!
We made this juicy delicacy step-by-step images that make it easier to fold. See them below!

You need:
a packet of cake dough with
a knife for
egg lubrication
if you want decorations such as icing sugar or sugar beads
Manufacturing:
- Cut two incisions from the center of two adjacent sides almost to the center of the dough square.
- Put the desired filling (jam, candy, etc.) in the opposite corner of the cut corner.
- Carefully fold the cut corner over the filling and pinch the edges all the way through.
- Cut each open “wing” into five sections.
- Fold the squirrels one at a time on top of the dumpling, start at the closed edge and take the squirrels in turn on each side. Tighten the head of the dough stick to the dumpling.
- Once all the skins are attached, you can still round the edges slightly down to make the result as pretty as possible.
- Grease with egg.
- Bake in the middle of a 225-degree oven for about 15 to 20 minutes. Don’t let it burn!
- Decorate the way you want. For example, you can try sifting icing sugar over the cakes or sprinkling sugar beads into “Christmas tree balls”.
