An overview of the scope of delivery and everything you need to know about charging the iPhone 13!

What you will learn in this blog

The scope of delivery of iPhones at Apple has decreased significantly in recent years. This repeatedly leads to confusion among customers:

Does the iPhone 13 come with a charging cable and charger?

Is the iPhone 13 charging cable compatible with my laptop/computer?

Does it come with a MagSafe charger?

We’ll answer all of these questions in this blog! But first, an overview of what’s included:

What’s included in the iPhone 13?

Despite the high prices, the scope of delivery for new Apple devices in the 13 series is very limited. In addition to the respective iPhone, only the following two things are included:

All iPhones in the 13 series come with a quick start guide.

In addition, all new iPhones come with a USB-C to Lightning cable.

The delivery does not include a power adapter (the part that connects the charging cable to the socket) and since the iPhone 12 series there are no longer any headphones or ear pods. A MagSafe charger for wireless charging must also be purchased separately.

The scope of delivery of our refurbished iPhone 13 models on Back Market is the same as that of new products. Only the quick start guide is not included. However, you can easily download the full iPhone 13 user manual from Apple as a PDF.

Why doesn’t the iPhone 13 have a power adapter?

While the missing headphones don’t bother almost anyone, there are many customers who have complained about the missing power adapter, as it is needed to charge the iPhone 13 via the socket. This frustration is understandable. If you spend up to 1829 euros (current new price of the iPhone 13 Pro Max with one terabyte) on a smartphone, you obviously don’t want to have to buy an extra power adapter.  Because power adapters are no longer included, the packaging has been reduced by around 60%. This means that fewer materials are needed for packaging and less CO₂ is emitted during transport.

Is the iPhone 13 charging cable compatible with my laptop/computer?

Attention! You can only charge your iPhone 13 if the device you are charging it with (e.g. your laptop) has a USB-C port.

If your device only has USB-A ports, you will also need a USB-C to USB-A adapter! It’s easy to understand with this illustration:

So if you have the top port on your laptop/computer, you can charge your iPhone 13 with the included charging cable.

If your laptop/computer only has the large USB-A ports (the bottom port in the picture), you will need a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
