A bit of British tailoring, a dose of romance, but above all cheerfulness: these facets characterize the collection designed by Alessandro Michele, creative director at Gucci, in collaboration with good friend and pop star Harry Styles. The two developed a men’s collection that fuses their eccentric visions of fashion. The collection was announced by Gucci in a press release this afternoon.
The collection is called Ha Ha Ha: a combination of the initials of Michele and Styles. At the same time, the expression stands for the joyful friendship between the two: they often end messages to each other with ‘hahaha’ or smiling emojis, according to the press release.
The two have known each other for some time: Michele and Styles met around the time Styles presented his first solo album and Michele had just become creative director at Gucci. Styles has repeatedly worn Michele’s designs on the red carpet in recent years. “Harry has a great fashion sense,” Michele said in the press release. “He combines clothes in an original way compared to the applicable standards.”
The collection does the same: it is also a cross-section of the history of European men’s fashion, with classic suits, shirts and spencers, denim jackets, bowling shirts, hooded jackets and pleated kilts. At the same time, the prints are playful and exuberant, with cheerful motifs such as cherries and sheep, and traditionally feminine accessories such as an adaptation of the Bamboo handbag.
Details about where and when the collection will be for sale are not mentioned in the press release. FashionUnited has made inquiries with Gucci, but is awaiting a response.
