The Body shop camomile cleansing oil has been developed to remove make-up from the face and eyes, but how do you actually use such a product?

The Body shop Camomile cleansing oil

The Body shop Camomile cleansing oil is not new in the collection, but The Body shop has given the product a small makeover. The formula now consists of only twelve ingredients. 95% of this is of natural origin and, moreover, the cleansing oil is now completely vegan.

How do you use the product?

Removing make-up with an oil may not be familiar to everyone. For clarity; it’s really about a product that removes make-up from the face and eyes, after that you should really use a cleanser. Remove make-up and cleanse your skin are two different steps. Most ‘normal’ cleansers have not been developed to remove (heavy and/or waterproof) make-up, and if you only use a make-up remover, your skin is not really clean yet. The Body shop Camomile cleansing oil is packaged in a recycled plastic bottle with a loose screw cap. Below is a dropper with which you can dose the oil hygienically and pleasantly. The oil has a soft and very subtle fruity scent. The nice thing about the formula is that papaya extracts have been added, and you can smell it. But the scent is really subtle, don’t expect a ‘scented fruit explosion’ as you might be used to with certain body products from The Body shop. The oil is also quite greasy. I really like that myself, because of the way you use the product. The idea is that you spread the oil with your fingertips over your face and therefore also over your eyes. Then you gently massage the oil in and this makes the make-up soften, as it were. Precisely because the product is quite greasy and not watery, the oil does not just rinse off your skin. After massaging in, rinse the oil off your skin together with the make-up and then use another cleanser. The oil leaves a little bit behind. I don’t find this layer at all disturbing, rather nice and soft on the skin. In principle, you eventually rinse that layer off with your cleanser.

What do I think?

The Body shop Camomile cleansing oil does its job well, that’s for sure. But still, I still prefer to remove makeup with micellar water. Somehow I find that the quickest and easiest way to go. However, if you like to use oil-like textures in your skincare routine and / or your skin is very dry, then this cleansing is definitely recommended. The formula also looks great. Caprylic/capric triglyceride is the main ingredient. This is a mixture of two fatty acids caprylic acid and capric acid. It comes from coconut oil and glycerin. It has a soothing effect on the skin anyway, but can also prevent moisture loss from the skin. Vitamin E and oils of natural origin have also been added, namely sunflower oil, papaya oil and chamomile.
