Short legs? These 10 tips will make them look longer!
No, we are not all blessed with long model legs. Not that we should be sad about that: there are plenty of ways to give the impression of walking on stilts.
1. The nude shoe
Even if you prefer colors, you should still welcome the nude shoe – the shoe in skin color – with love. Nude pumps in particular give the impression of having endless legs.
2. Never wear pants with short legs
You wouldn’t even come close to ankle pants – or worse, calf pants! — may come, they are so wrong for you. Pants that end above the ankle make the legs look slightly shorter.
3. A high waist
The higher your waist, the shorter your torso and therefore the longer your legs appear. High-waisted skirts and pants should be at the top of your shopping list.
4. Wide Pants
Wide pants that reach to the floor (hiding that you’re wearing high heels) give the illusion of longer legs. Combined with a high waist it will look like your legs never end.
5. Go Monochrome
A blouse combined with a skirt or trousers in the same color creates a long, continuous visual line.
6. Never wear shoes with ankle straps
Too bad if you are a fan of ankle straps on your pumps or sandals, but these make your legs look shorter, as if your feet are separated from your legs.
7. Show some ‘toe cleavage’
Deep-cut shoes that show more skin – so open to just the toes – have a lengthening effect.
8. Wear high boots
High boots, with or without heels, quickly give the impression that your legs have grown, especially if you wear a skirt or dress that falls nicely over the boot. Make sure that your legs are completely covered by the boot and skirt: a strip of skin will optically divide the image in two, and thus shorten it.
9. Get rid of cropped tops
Don’t wear sweaters or blouses that show part of your bare stomach: it will only look like your torso is way too long for the top. And since an extremely long torso also includes extremely short legs, we absolutely want to avoid this.
10. Don’t wear tight skirts or dresses
Not if they accentuate the behind. That way you can’t hide the fact that your legs start embarrassingly low. In flared skirts or dresses, we’re guessing the actual length of your legs, and that’s exactly the point.
